1. Prepare the weekly to-do list each Sunday.
When you organize in advance what daily chores should you do and which day of the next week, you gain? …. time!
And you can use this gained time to do things like spend time with your family or relax or maybe do more important things for you based on your hobbies and interests.
Wouldn’t it be much better to spend a few minutes of your time writing in a free weekly schedule what are the chores you want to do next week, taking some time to complete them each day?
Preparation in advance can reduce your stress and fatigue during the next week.
2. Choose to do the heaviest home chores based on the urgency of the cleanliness and your energy.
As we are going through each week and the days from Monday to Friday pass we feel more tired and less motivated to do the things we have programmed.
After a less stressful 2-days weekend, we start on Monday with more energy and a good mood!
This energy will start being reduced as the week passes through.
This is very normal for all of us as we run to accomplish as many things as we can at the highest level during each week.
For this reason, it is very beneficial to split the house chores not only by days but choosing to do at the beginning of each week the ”urgent” and the heaviest home chores.
Based of course on each one’s beliefs about which are heavy house chores.
3. Accomplish the home chore on a programmed day.
This rule can become really challenging but if we succeed to follow this rule it can become an important factor – the key that can unlock more free time for us.
I follow this rule and I can confirm that it works 100%.
When I programme to do a specific house chore one specific day I do it. I try to accomplish this specific task even if I feel tired or I get bored.
Think that, if you do not accomplish this task that day it will steal your time from another day and even worse you end up having a mountain of them waiting for you during the weekend or the next week.
As a result, you wait for the weekend to rest yourself, to disconnect from the stress and recover the lost energy but … in the end you spend all the weekend doing the house chores.
All this flow can create an undesirably exhausting working programme of 7 days a week with a lot of nerves and tiredness, ending up with an unhappy life.
You need a better quality of life! With a little self-discipline and organization, you can get to this point!
4. Check the time you need to finish each house chore and note the needed time for the next time you have to do this activity.
Calculating the time you need to spend for each activity you know the time you need to spend for this activity for the next time and you can organize your next weekly schedule better.
For example, when you know the time you need to spend for the vacuuming of the house, it helps you choose the day and the time you want to do it.
Is it a fast process? Does it take a lot of your time to do it? Is it a heavy house chore? How many times you should do it each week?
The calculation of the time can provide you with information about how much time you need to spend on each house chore.
Secondly, you can manage your time more efficiently as you know the required time.
Lastly and more importantly you have the advantage to choose the correct day and time for all the next weeks, months and years because now you know.
How satisfying it can be to know that you can organize your days, schedule your time, and your life! Isn’t it? I find it very productive!
What do you think?
5. Split the activities by room and required time.
During each week the lack of time and fatigue overwhelm us.
We can catch ourselves easily being full of thoughts about how to manage different obligations and when we should accomplish them.
What about if we could plan the time and the tasks? Easy to say but not easy to do?
With a smart and short plan, it can be easy, yes!
Think about the house chores that must be done definitely during a week from Monday to Friday.
Devote 20 minutes from your time only per day to do the activity and set a timer to eliminate distractions.
You will see a huge difference!
You can change the days and the rooms based on your priorities about which room is important to be cleaned first, second, etc.
But try to limit the time to 20 minutes, no more, and check the results.
